Star anise is an aromatic spice originally grown in China.
It is a major ingredient in both Chinese Five Spice and Garam Masala.
Usage: To make your own garam masala or five spice, you will need to grind the star anise very finely. Another use is for flavouring Basmati Rice (just throw a couple of stars in when cooking and optionally remove before serving)
